With the Bid Board Pro and Autodesk Docs integration, you can link a Bid Board opportunity in BuildingConnected to Autodesk Docs such that Docs becomes the storage point for Opportunity files, and Client Files and Internal Files are easily copied into Autodesk Docs.
Client Files are the files shared by the client. Internal Files are files you upload that are only visible to you and your coworkers. Learn more
Autodesk Docs can then be your one central file storage tool where you can share files across Autodesk Construction Cloud. You can spend less time moving files between systems and make handover from preconstruction to site construction easier.

Frequently Asked Questions
To link a Bid Board opportunity with Autodesk Docs
Requirements:
- You must have subscriptions to Bid Board Pro and Autodesk Docs, Build, or Takeoff.
- You must connect your Autodesk ID to your BuildingConnected account.
1. Go to the Files tab in your Bid Board opportunity.
2. In the top right corner, under Links, click “Link” next to the folder icon with the building. You can also click the down arrow to open a drop-down menu and select “Link to Autodesk Docs”.
3. Select” Link to new ACC project” or” Link to existing ACC project”.
Link to new project: To link to a new project, you must be an account administrator or a project administrator (only if the settings allow project administrators to create projects).
1. If applicable, select the Autodesk Construction Cloud account your new project will go into. Only the accounts where you have permission to create projects are shown.
2. (Optional) Select a template to create the new project from. If you select a template with a predefined folder structure, you’ll be given the choice of which folder you want to move the Bid Board files into.|
3. Edit the project number, name, type, and address.
4. Click “Show more” to find and fill out currency and other optional fields.
5. (Optional) Select “Automatically copy new Client Files” at the bottom left corner. If your client on this project adds files or folders after you have connected to Autodesk Docs, any updates will automatically copy and sync over to Docs so that your files stay up to date.
6. Click “Link project”.
Link to existing project: To link to an existing project, you must be a project member on that project.
1. Click on an existing project from your Autodesk Construction Cloud account. The list will only include projects you are a part of.
2. (Optional) Select “Automatically copy new Client Files” at the bottom left corner. If your client on this project adds files or folders after you have connected to Autodesk Docs, any updates will automatically copy and sync over to Docs so that your files stay up to date.
3. If you choose to set up automatic copying or transfer any existing files from Internal Files to docs, you’ll be given a choice to select which folder in the project to move the files to. You must have at least Edit permission on a folder to select it.
4. Click “Next”.
5. Select a folder in the ACC project to add the files from BuildingConnected to. You must have View + Download permissions on a folder to add files to it.
6. Click “Add Files”.
The “Internal Files” tab will now show all the files from Autodesk Docs in the connected ACC project. When files are uploaded to the folder Docs or in BuildingConnected directly, the updates will sync to the other location. Permissions for viewing and editing these files and folders are set in Docs. Manage Bid Board opportunities linked to BC Pro projects and Autodesk Docs
If you have an existing BC Pro project linked to a Bid Board opportunity that is linked to Autodesk Docs or if you link one after, the BC Pro project will also link to the same ACC project.
The BC Pro files, along with the Client Files and Internal Files from the opportunity, will move to Autodesk Docs.
If you unlink the project from Autodesk Docs in Projects, the opportunity will be unlinked or vice versa.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do markups on files from Docs show up in BuildingConnected?
No, BuildingConnected doesn’t have markup support, so any markups on the files from Autodesk Docs will not show up in BuildingConnected.
Can I use the Bid Board Takeoff tool on a linked opportunity?
No, the Bid Board Takeoff tool cannot be used on files that are synced with Autodesk Docs.
Does this integration work with BIM 360 Docs?
No, this integration is only for ACC Docs.
What happens to files of the same name?
BuildingConnected allows for multiple files or folders to have the same name in the same folder. Docs does not. When BC and ACC are linked, we follow the Docs standards:
- If files are pushed over at the time of connection, we will automatically append ".1" to redundantly named files. E.g. if two files, "file.pdf" and "file.pdf" are pushed over, the second one will be changed to "file.1.pdf"
- On upload, if a file has a redundant name, we'll automatically append ".1" in the same way as outlined above.
- If moving a file causes a redundant name conflict, the move will be blocked, and the user will see a toast message: "Could not move 1 files/folders. A file/folder with this name already exists."
- You can't rename a file to the exact name as another file.
Note: In BuildingConnected, you need to refresh the page to see any immediate updates from Docs.
