Vendor information for main contractors

You may notice a "Vendor" section appear in your bidder list in a project. This article will explain all you need to know about vendors in BuildingConnected. It covers:

Understanding vendors and their role in BuildingConnected will help ensure that subcontractors you work with are granted the appropriate access to your projects’ details.

What is a vendor?

A vendor is typically someone that your subcontractor wants to share project information with. These can be suppliers they use or even sub-tier subcontractors. Vendors have restricted access to your project. They can view project information and project files, but cannot view messages or submit a tender.

However, sometimes a subcontractor can accidentally be a vendor on a project. This may occur when they access your project using an invitation from a coworker and their account is not in the same company as their coworkers you've invited. Please submit a request and our Support Team is happy to help ensure a subcontractor is in the correct company.

I invited a subcontractor to a project but they are showing up as a vendor? What can I do?

First, the subcontractor should remove themselves as a vendor from that opportunity. Once removed, re-invite the subcontractor to the project. The subcontractor should access the project details from the invite they receive to ensure they have the appropriate access.
