When you are submitting a tender to the client in Tenders, you have the option to log the tender or send it. These options are different. Logging a tender is for internal purposes and the client will not receive or see your tender through BuildingConnected.
This article walks you through:
- How to see the difference between logging and bidding
-
I accidentally logged a tender, how can I send it to the client instead?
To see the difference between logging and sending
Click an Undecided tender in Tenders to open it.
Navigate to the "Tender Form" tab.
If you are on the "Log proposal" option, you will see the header "Log proposal" and a note that "This will not submit your tender to the client". The action will be "Log Tender".
Logging a tender is for internal purposes and the client will not receive or see your tender through BuildingConnected. For example, if you already sent the proposal to the client through email, this feature allows you to record and upload the tender here in your Bid Board to track that submission for your company.
To switch to the sending experience
Click "Send your tender instead".
Now, you can check that your tender will be sent to the client that is listed at the top in the "To:" field. The header is "Send proposal" and the action is "Preview & send".
You can also often notice that when submitting a bid through BuildingConnected, the client may have custom bid forms. As shown below, these may ask for additional clarifications and questions to ensure that you are providing the information they are asking for.
If you want to log a tender instead of sending it, click on "Log your tender instead" to return to the "Log proposal" experience.
I accidentally logged a tender, how can I send it to the client instead?
If a client lets you know that they are not seeing your tender in BuildingConnected, you may have logged your tender instead.
Navigate to the "Tender Form" tab in the corresponding tender.
Check to see if the header is "Logged proposal" and if there's a note stating that "Logging is for internal tracking purposes only...".
If the above is true, the client did not receive or see your tender in BuildingConnected.
To send your tender, first click "Discard" to delete the logged proposal.
Confirm the action by clicking "Discard" again.
Click "Send your tender instead".
Fill out the new tender form accordingly and click "Preview & send". Review your responses and click "Submit".
You should see that the header is now "Sent proposal" and the date that it was sent.
