The messaging feature within BC Pro projects allows you to conveniently send project updates and organize all communication in a central location. This can be done both on the project level and the tender package level.
Please note that once messages have been sent, there is no way to retract the message. If there was a message attachment, our Support Team can help remove access to the attachment. Learn more here before submitting a request.
To send messages to subcontractors
Navigate to a project or tender package, click the “Messages” tab then click “New Message.”
Click the "To:" field and select which group to send your message to. You can send messages to the entire project, by company status, or by specific tender package. The number of companies or contacts in each group are noted in parentheses at the end - (X).
Note: Any companies in the "Not Tendering" status cannot be messaged and are not included when you select any group that they may be a part of whether the "Entire Project" or a specific tender package.
Enter the subject, body, attach any files, and adjust formatting as needed, then click “Send.” The maximum file size you can attach is 100 MB.
Alternatively, if you are not ready to click "Send", you can close out of the message window and your message will be saved as a draft.
Please note that subcontractors cannot see who else the message was sent to. All members of the list are blind copied and only you and internal employees that have been added to the project can see who the message was sent to.
Team members in your project who have their notifications turned on will receive a copy of any messages you send out.
If subcontractors reply using BuildingConnected, you can view and directly reply to messages.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I send a message to the subcontractors that are "Not Tendering"?
Messages cannot be sent through BuildingConnected to any subcontractors who have marked "Not Tendering" on a project. However, these subcontractors do not lose access to your project. If you want them to review the project files again that were not included in the original request, you could contact them outside of BuildingConnected to see if they want to revisit your project. They can find your project in the Tenders in their account.
Can I send a message to a single contact through BuildingConnected?
It is not possible to message individual contacts through BuildingConnected. As a best practice, we recommend that messages be sent to the entire company as much as possible. Doing so keeps records centralized for both the general contractor and subcontractor.
