Scope-specific (i.e. Bid package) bid forms lets you ask bidders to break down their proposal into lump sum amounts, answer yes or no questions to confirm what's included, to acknowledge disclaimers, and more. Scope-specific bid forms are only visible to bidders who were invited to that bid package.
Bid forms are organized into default sections. This article walks through each section so that you can accurately organize your scope-specific questions:
- Line items
- Alternates
- Inclusions
- Scope-Specific Information and Unit Costs
- Scope-Specific Clarifications
Note: The default section names can't be changed. Custom sections cannot be added to scope-specific bid forms.
To learn how to access and start creating bid forms, see How to create scope-specific bid forms (BC Pro).
Line items
Line items are scope items that require separate pricing. If you want a more detailed breakdown of costs, add line items so that bidders provide pricing accordingly.
Please note that when you do not add line items to a bid form, bidders will see one field to enter a lump sum amount. This is the default line item that matches your bid package name.
Alternates
Alternates allow your bidders to provide alternate pricing or information on certain items. For example, you may be want an alternate price for a more expensive tile than specified or a price to remove asbestos if found on the project.
You can ask the bidder for a lump sum amount or for a text response.
Inclusions
Inclusions are scope confirmations within a subcontractor bid. Specifically, this section is intended for “Yes” or “No” questions that confirm the bidder has a scope item within the bid. The answers that bidders provide to inclusion questions allow you to determine if they are missing any scope.
Scope-specific information and unit costs
Scope-specific information and unit costs refer to clarifications that you want the bidder to acknowledge or to receive the unit cost for work that may be added to the project. The line items you include here shouldn't be necessary to the bid amount.
Scope-specific information and unit costs don't get calculated in Bid Leveling.
Scope-specific clarifications
This section is intended for notes, disclaimers or any additional clarifications for bidders. No response is requested from your bidders for items in this section.
