How main contractors can determine if an invitation to tender was sent to an alternate email address

BuildingConnected simplifies the process of creating projects and inviting subcontractors to tender. Our system recognizes “alternate” email addresses and automatically forwards an invite or message that is sent to an alternate email address to the primary email address on that user’s account. This functionality is important because it increases the chances of your subcontractor receiving your invitation, even if the email address you are using is not their "primary" email.

This article explains how to determine if an invitation to tender was sent to the alternate email address on a subcontractor’s account.

Sending an invitation to tender to an alternate email address

Subcontractors designate their own “primary” and “alternate” email addresses. BuildingConnected gives subcontractors the ability to update each type from their profile. However, we do not determine which email address the subcontractor chose to use as their “primary” and “alternate” email addresses.

Start from the project you wish to send the invitation for. Find the appropriate tender package and click on “+ Invite Subs.”

In the example below, the primary email on ANZ Sub’s account is anz_subtest@buildingconnected.com and the alternate email address on their account is anzsubemail@gmail.com.

Next, go to the “Email” tab. Enter the subcontractor’s email address and click on “Invite selected subs.”

From the “Subs” tab, look for the name of the subcontractor’s company. If an invite is sent to an alternate email address, you will notice that a new entry is not added under the “Invitees” section.

Furthermore, when you click on the invited subcontractor’s name to view their details, the email listed will not match the email address you just invited to tender. This is because alternate email addresses are not listed in the user details window.

However, any invitations to tender that are sent to an alternate email address are automatically forwarded to the primary email address on an account.
