The optimization feature in BuildingConnected analyzes your bidder list and provides options to provide you with the most current bidder information from our network.
To optimize bidder lists
You can optimize an individual bidder list or multiple lists at one time.
1. To start:
- In an individual bid package: Navigate to the "Bidders" tab in any bid package.
- For multiple bid packages: Navigate to the "Bid Packages" tab in a project.
2. Click "Optimize".

3. Select from the options for optimizing your bidder list.
- Add a Primary Contact if applicable: Companies can specify their own primary contacts for their office. If a primary contact exists and is not yet added, they will be added to your bidder list.
- Add a Preferred Contact if applicable: You can set your own preferred contacts at companies. If a preferred contact exists and is not yet added, they will be added to your bidder list.
- Add Preferred Companies for bid package work performed: You can prefer companies that you want to work. This will add the preferred companies that matches one of your bid package work performed and whose service area overlaps with the project address.
- Make sure each bidder office has at least one invitee: There may be instances during optimizing that you may end up with no invitees for a company. For example, if there was only one contact with an invalid email in a company and you chose to remove invalid emails, an additional invitee will be added. This ensures that every company you want to invite will have at least one contact.
- Remove invitees with invalid emails: This is only available before a bid package is published. You can remove any invitees that have a invalid warning on their email. Learn more about this invalid warning in What is an “Invalid Email” and how can it be fixed?
- Remove bidders whose service area doesn't match the project address: Remove any bidders whose service area does not overlap with the project's address. Service area is the locations where the companies has indicated they are interested in performing work.
- Remove bidders whose work performed doesn't match the bid package: Remove any bidders whose work performed does not match any of the keywords on the bid package. You can edit the bid package keywords in the Overview tab. Learn more
- Remove regular invitees if an office has a Primary Contact or Preferred Contact: If an office has a primary contact or preferred contact, then you may not want to include other contacts within a company. This will remove all the other invitees except for the primary contact or preferred contact.
4. Click "Review".
5. When there are optimizations available, a list will appear in a pop-up window. You can review each contact to see what BuildingConnected will do with it.
- In the "Action column, review whether a Add or Remove action or occur.
- In the "Action Reason" column, review the reason why that change will occur, matching to one of the optimization options, such as Preferred Contact, Primary Contact, or Invalid Email.
For example, in the following screenshot, in Bob's Demolition, Bob Jr. Bobson will be added because he is the preferred contact. In Sam's Demolition, Dan Daniels will be removed because of an invalid email.
If you do not want to accept a change, click the "x" to the right of that invitee.
6. Once you have reviewed, click "Apply".
Your bidder list update accordingly with the corresponding invitees added or removed.
