Frequently Asked Questions
- Do markups on files from Docs show up in BuildingConnected?
- Can I use the Bid Board Takeoff tool on a linked opportunity?
- Does this integration work with BIM 360 Docs?
- What happens to files of the same name?
Do markups on files from Docs show up in BuildingConnected?
No, BuildingConnected doesn’t have markup support, so any markups on the files from Forma Data Management will not show up in BuildingConnected.
Can I use the Bid Board Takeoff tool on a linked opportunity?
No, the Bid Board Takeoff tool cannot be used on files that are synced with Forma Data Management.
Does this integration work with BIM 360 Docs?
No, this integration is only for Autodesk Forma Management.
What happens to files of the same name?
BuildingConnected allows for multiple files or folders to have the same name in the same folder. Docs does not. When BC and ACC are linked, we follow the Docs standards:
- If files are pushed over at the time of connection, we will automatically append ".1" to redundantly named files. E.g. if two files, "file.pdf" and "file.pdf" are pushed over, the second one will be changed to "file.1.pdf"
- On upload, if a file has a redundant name, we'll automatically append ".1" in the same way as outlined above.
- If moving a file causes a redundant name conflict, the move will be blocked, and the user will see a toast message: "Could not move 1 files/folders. A file/folder with this name already exists."
- You can't rename a file to the exact name as another file.
Note: In BuildingConnected, you need to refresh the page to see any immediate updates from Docs.
