With BC Pro, you have the ability to make projects public before or after publishing. Once projects are made public, they are available for any subcontractors to view and join in your company’s public plan room.
What is a public plan room?
A public plan room is a web page powered by BuildingConnected that is only available to anyone with the link. Public plan rooms list all public projects your company is currently bidding out through BuildingConnected. Please note that NDA protected projects are not displayed in your public plan room.
From your public plan room, subcontractors can view projects and join bid packages to submit bids. If a subcontractor joins a bid package and they do not already have an account on BuildingConnected, they will be prompted to create an account so they view project information, files, messages, and bid forms.
Where can I find my company’s public plan room link?
To find your company’s public plan room, click on a public project from your Projects page.
Click the “Information” tab.
Click on the link next to the “Public” section reading, “[Your Company] Public Plan Room.”
You will be taken to your company’s public plan room where all current public projects are listed. You can now share the direct link to this page in your browser.
Your company’s public plan room is available to anyone with the link, whether it is posted on your website or emailed to subcontractors directly. Once subcontractors click on the link, they can then click on the project name or click “View” see to a list of bid packages within the project.
From here, subcontractors can add themselves as bidders to your project on BuildingConnected by clicking “Join” on bid packages they wish to submit bids for.
If a subcontractor already has an active account on BuildingConnected, clicking “Join” will add them as a bidder and take them directly to the bid package “Overview” tab so they can view project information, files, messages, and bid forms. As mentioned above, if a subcontractor does not already have an account, they will be prompted to do so before they can view project information.
You will not receive a notification when a subcontractor joins using the public plan room. They will appear on your bidder list. You can tell that they came from the public plan room by looking at the History tab and seeing that your team didn't invite them and they viewed the invite on their own.
