As a head contractor with BC Pro, you have access to tender forms that can be customized to meet your project’s needs. Your subcontractors will be required to complete the tender forms when they submit on BuildingConnected so that you can ensure you receive all the information you need for your project.
There are two types of tender forms - Project Tender Forms and Trade-specific Tender Forms. This article goes over how to start creating your trade-specific tender form. It also shows how to customize your Trade-specific Tender Forms for lump sum bids and for detailed breakouts to provide some examples of how you can use the tender forms for your company's needs.
To create or edit a scope-specific tender form
To start customizing the tender form for a project, start by clicking on the bid package.
From the bid package’s “Tender Form” tab, click on “Edit.” Select "Edit" from the drop-down menu.
There are two other options, which help you make tender forms faster. For more information, please reference:
- How head contractors can create bid form templates (BC Pro)
- How to import quantities from Assemble into Bid Forms (BC Pro)
You can enter items to any of the sections as desired. Please review the Trade-specific tender forms overview (BC Pro) for more information about each of the sections. Depending on the section, the items will have different options for the response types (lump sum, unit costs, yes/no or text box) and to require or not require the question.
You can type each question individually or copy and paste questions from Excel. If you have your line items already written in Excel, this video shows how you can quickly copy from Excel (pictured left) and paste them right into the tender form on BuildingConnected (pictured right). BuildingConnected will separate them into lines accordingly.
If you’d like to add headers to keep your tender form organized, you can make any line a header by adding a colon to the end of the line item and it will immediately be marked as a "section header".
You can drag and drop items to reorganize them as you need. To do so, hold onto the left-hand side of the item where the dots are located and drag and drop them as desired.
Click “Save".
Please note that if subcontractors are already invited to the project, when they access the tender form, they will receive a notice that the tender form has been updated. They will see any updates or progress you save on your end.
Once subcontractors submit bids, you will be able to see the completed tender form in the project’s Tender Comparison tab. Click here to learn more about the Tender Comparison tool.
