With BC Pro, you can create an NDA protected project to ensure all project information remains confidential. When you create an NDA protected project, subcontractors are unable to view any project information including the project name, location, files, and tender forms until they sign the NDA.
The following article walks through how to add an NDA on an existing unpublished project, but you can add an NDA while creating a new project. Learn more in How to create a project in BuildingConnected.
To make an existing unpublished project NDA protected
In your existing project, navigate to the "Information" tab and click "Edit Information".
Under "Advanced Options" on the right, check the box for "Require a Non-disclosure agreement".
Deselect the "Show the project name before NDA is signed" checkbox if you do not want the project name to show in the invitation to tender.
Click “Upload NDA” then select the file from your computer you would like to upload.
Click “Save Project”
Your uploaded NDA will appear on the “Information” tab under the “Advanced Settings” section.
Once your project is published, a tender invitation will be sent to subcontractors within each tender package prompting them to electronically sign the NDA. As noted above, everyone will not be able to view any project information, files, or tender forms until they sign the electronic NDA.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is using the digital NDA function contractually binding?
By electronically signing the NDA, subcontractors agree that they have downloaded and read the uploaded NDA and are authorized to consent. There is no way to sign the uploaded document directly through BuildingConnected, but BuildingConnected tracks digital consent which is legally equivalent.
If you would like more visibility into what subcontractors see on their end when they are invited to NDA protected projects, please see, “Why am I being asked to sign an NDA?”
Where do signed NDAs go?
BuildingConnected does not store signed versions of your NDA document. Once subcontractors start accessing your invitation and electronically signing, you can see and download a record of who signed the NDA through BuildingConnected. Learn more here.
Can I add or remove an NDA after a project is published?
NDAs can only be added or removed from projects before the projects are published. This is to ensure all subcontractors sign the NDA before viewing project information and maintain the integrity of your NDA.
