If your company performs projects where you need to reach out to bidders with certain certifications, the Certificates feature allows you to search, identify, and track xBE partners. You can also download reports to show your outreach efforts to support potential xBE partners. BuildingConnected supports a wide range of certification types (more than 40) and certifying agencies (more than 220).
Certificates in Company Profile
When you access a company’s profile, click the "Certificates" tab to see and search through a list of that company’s certifications. If the company has uploaded a corresponding file for a certification, click the icon in the far-right column to view or download it.
Every company has the option to add "Certificates" to their own company profile. When they add a certificate, the system requires them to select from a list of certified agencies and types. We do not allow an “Other” option. Number, expiration date, and uploading a file are optional.
Certificates in Projects
You can specify the relevant certificates needed for your project and see which companies have matching certificates.
To add a relevant certificate to your project
You can add relevant certificates when creating a project or anytime when editing a project. In the Private Information section, click to select a certificate and/or a certifying agency from the drop-down menus. If you’re looking for a specific certification type but not for specific agencies that issued it, leave the agency field blank (or vis-a-versa).
Click “Add Another” to add as many relevant certificates as needed.
How to see which companies in your Bidders list have relevant certificates
In your bid package "Bidders" lists:
- Companies with relevant certificates have a blue certificate icon.
- Click on a company to see a list of their certificates on the right.
- Relevant certificates are in bold and appear at the top of the list.
- Other certificates will be listed after and if applicable, you can click the link to see all the certificates that the company holds.
When a company has certificates, but they do not match the relevant certificates you have selected, the certificate icon will be gray. You can always see a list of their certificates on the right.
Certificates in Reports
You can download reports that show certificate information.
The Bidder Status and Good Faith Effort report both include a “DBE Certificates” column. This column will only populate with certificates when that bidder has the relevant certificates for your project.
How does Certificates work if I suggest an edit on a company’s profile?
You can suggest for a company to add a certificate to their profile. Learn more about suggesting an edit on a profile here.
Click "Suggest an edit" in the Certificates" tab.
Click "Add Certificate" or click "x" in the Action column to remove a certificate.
When adding, select a certificate and agency. Number, expiration date, and uploading a certificate are option. Click "Send".
Your suggestion will be immediately available for your use. That company will appear accordingly if the certificates you suggested match the relevant certificates on your project. Your suggestions will also be included in your reports as well as over the API.
That company will also receive a notification letting them know you suggested this edit so that they can make the formal change on their profile on the network.
What do I do if I can’t find the certification type or agency?
We want BuildingConnected to have an up-to-date list of all the types and agencies in the United States and Canada. If we are missing one, tell us by filling out this form. Please note that no email notifications are sent if your request is fulfilled or not.
