As a general contractor with BC Pro, you have access to bid forms that can be customized to meet your project’s needs. Your subcontractors will be required to complete the bid forms when they submit on BuildingConnected so that you can ensure you receive all the information you need for your project.
There are two types of bid forms - Project Bid Forms and Scope-specific Bid Forms. This article goes over how to start edit your scope-specific bid forms. It also shows how to customize your scope-specific Bid forms for lump sum bids and for detailed breakouts to provide some examples of how you can use the bid forms for your company's needs.
To edit scope-specific bid forms
Click on a bid package and navigate to the "Bid Form" tab.
Click on “Edit" and select "Edit" from the drop-down menu.
Enter line items, questions, and clarifications based on your project needs. Click "add" under each section to add more lines to each section.
See Scope-specific bid forms overview (BC Pro) for more information about each of the sections. Depending on the section, the items will have different options for the response types (lump sum, unit costs, yes/no or text box) and to require or not require the question.
Tip: You can create headers by adding a colon to the end of the line item and it will immediately be marked as a "section header".
To reorder line items, hold onto the left-hand side of a line item where the dots are located and drag and drop them as desired.
To remove lines, click on the "x" icon in the "Required?" column.
Click on “Save" to save your progress.
Please note that if subcontractors are already invited to the project, when they access the bid form, they will receive a notice that the bid form has been updated. They will see any updates or progress you save on your end.
Once subcontractors submit bids, you will be able to see the completed bid form in the project’s Bid Leveling tab. For more information on our Bid Leveling tool, please reference the Bid Leveling section of our help center.
To copy and paste items from Excel into BuildingConnected
If you have line items already written in Excel, you can quickly copy from Excel (pictured left in the following video) and paste them right into a project or scope-specific bid form on BuildingConnected (pictured right). BuildingConnected will separate them into lines accordingly.
