As a main contractor using BuildingConnected, there are several things you can do to maximize subcontractor engagement when tendering out your projects, including:
- Adding a company logo to your company’s BuildingConnected account
- Adding a personal headshot to your profile
- Filling out the project “Information” tab
- Utilizing the “Messages” tool
- Providing subcontractors with helpful resources
Adding a company logo to your company’s BuildingConnected account
Adding a company logo will give your company additional credibility and will allow your tender invites to stand out on subcontractors’ Tenders dashboards. Company logos can be added to your account by clicking on your company name in the menu on the left-hand side then clicking on the “Company Profile” tab.

Adding a personal headshot to your profile
Adding a personal headshot to your profile will also make your tender invites stand out to subcontractors to help increase response rates. Profile pictures can be added to your account by clicking on your name or picture in the menu on the left-hand side then clicking on the “Profile” tab.

Filling out the project “Information” tab
When creating your project, we recommend filling out as much as you can about the project in the “Information” tab. The “Information” tab is the first thing subcontractors will see when they receive your invitation to tender, so it is important to include as many details as possible.
Including tender, job walk, and RFI dates, a detailed “description,” and adding a note in the description that tenders should be submitted through BuildingConnected will help you receive the highest response rates and maximize the amount of tenders that are sent through BuildingConnected.
Below is an example of an “Information” tab that includes the important details mentioned above.
To utilize the “Messages” tool
Once your project is published and subcontractors have been invited to tender, utilizing the “Messages” tool on both the project and tender package level is important to keep communication channels open between your company and the subcontractors invited to tender.
Here are some ways you can utilize the “Messages” tool to increase subcontractor engagement in BuildingConnected:
- Send messages to subcontractors who are “Undecided” to remind them to select “Tendering” or “Not Tendering.”
- Send messages to all subcontractors within a project or tender package to let them know new drawings have been uploaded, if applicable.
- Send messages to all subcontractors who have not yet submitted proposals to remind them to submit tenders through BuildingConnected.

To provide subcontractors with helpful resources
Some subcontractors may not submit tenders through BuildingConnected because they are unfamiliar with how to use the software. If subcontractors you work with are having trouble accessing their account or submitting their tender form, here are some other helpful resources you can send them:
