If you are a general contractor using TradeTapp, you can import vendor information into your TradeTapp account to keep track of companies you have previously worked with or qualified.
Your Account Executive or Customer Success Manager will ask you to fill out the template, Vendor Import, attached at the bottom of this article.
See below for instructions and tips.
Filling out the Template - Basics
- Click on each header field for clarifying information:
- Invalid fields will get formatted in red
Filling out Custom Questions Answers
This tab is for importing questions that are not a part of the default questionnaire. If you have data that aligns with TradeTapp’s default questions, you should fill out the data in the appropriate section in the other parts of this spreadsheet for the best vendor profile experience.
- Step 1. Compile a list of your questions
- Create or identify the questions in the Questionnaire Settings
- Jot down the full Question Text for each question:
-
- Send a list of all the questions you intend to import to your TradeTapp representative. It is important that your questions are written verbatim to the Question Text in your Questionnaire settings.
- Your TradeTapp representative will provide you a unique ID for each question.
- Step 2. Fill out the Custom Questions Answers tab for each vendor response:
- company_id: ID set for the vendor in the Basic Info tab
- form_field_id: Unique ID provided by your TradeTapp representative
- full_question: Full question, matching the Question Text (as in Step 1)
- question_type: This must correlate to the Question Type in your questionnaire settings
-
- (response fields): Based on your selection for question_type, certain response fields will get highlighted in yellow. Fill out the highlighted fields ONLY.
Excel Tips
- Each tab in the template is protected to prevent accidental mis-formatting. If this protection is inhibiting your ability to fill out the sheet (e. g. for copy/pasting), you can disable the protection of each tab in Review -> Unprotect Sheet (no password). Keep in mind that copy/pasting may override the conditional formatting.
-
- While it is ok to ignore the conditional formatting, ensure you verify all your data is correct before submitting the spreadsheet to your TradeTapp representative to avoid lengthy delays.
- Copy and pasting dates often causes Excel to convert the date into a number. Ensure all dates are valid when copy and pasting. Dates must be in mm/dd/yy or mm/dd/yyyy format
- While it is ok to ignore the conditional formatting, ensure you verify all your data is correct before submitting the spreadsheet to your TradeTapp representative to avoid lengthy delays.
